Hi Ghost Team,
I just read through everything, the job description, the about page, the metrics you publish openly, and the mission. I want to be straightforward with you²: Ghost is the kind of company I did not think existed anymore².
Most companies talk about caring about design. Ghost actually built its entire operating model around it. No hand-off process, no A/B testing fifty shades of blue, no design heroes. Just people who care about making beautiful things and shipping them. I have been looking for a team like this for a long time.
I come from 14 years of designing complex products in small teams where I was the only designer, often the only person thinking about the full user experience end to end. At Finty I owned three fintech products simultaneously, writing the design specifications, shipping the front-end, and doing my own QA. At AccessFan I was the founding designer with no process to inherit, no templates to follow, and no one to hand work back to. You figure out what needs to exist and you build it. That is the only way I have ever worked, and it is the way I work best.
I write HTML and CSS fluently, JavaScript comfortably, and I use Claude Code (and every other AI to be honest) daily to close the gap between what I design and what gets shipped. React is the honest gap in my stack. I understand it well enough to read and collaborate on it, and I am actively building that fluency, but I want to be upfront rather than oversell it.
What draws me to Ghost specifically is the mission. Independent journalism and publishing matter. The people building 404 Media and Platformer and the thousands of publications that run on Ghost are doing something important, and the software they rely on should be as good as what the major platforms have. I would love to help make it better.

Best,
Leonardo Gallardo
